For a long time now, I have worn a stack of bracelets on my left arm. It’s just kind of happened over the years. All things I love; not purchased with intent to go together or match. Each with a story and meaning to me. Separate but intertwined. Pretty much every day. Periodically something gets very organically added. Or breaks or disappears. And like reading back over words in a journal, it feels kind of like it evolves with me. The same thing happens with necklaces. But it has never happened with rings. Until last month. At a recent retreat in Joshua Tree, this stone found me. It was the only one I picked up off Nicole’s tray. I placed it immediately on my finger and I carried it around balancing that way until I could find her to commit to having her make it into a ring. It was a splurge. But it was a “can’t not do.” I love the color and the shape and the size. And I feel an intuitive knowing that it is meant to be with me. A reminder, somehow, of my inner self and my journeys. The only thing on my right hand. Broken open and also beautiful. Weighty and also light. Supported each day like I knew I was in that desert. Happiness is wearing your insides on your outsides.

I collaborated on this custom Power Piece, a druzy stone bolo necklace, with maker Nicole Foos. It’s so beautiful that I’ve hung it for display in my home and can’t wait to take it down for its first wear. I met Nicole at a retreat in Joshua Tree. Her story is incredibly inspiring: after a career including everything from law to event planning, Nicole “risked making a fool of myself and followed my heart” into sculpting and then jewelry classes. “I always sensed there was creativity in me somewhere. But I just couldn’t figure out, for the life of me, how to access it.” I am so glad she figured it out! By the way my kids love it too. They’ve made requests for me to wear it! 😍 Thank you.

Nicole Foos is one of the most insightful and empowered women I know. She has designed a few custom pieces for me including a druzy ring and a power piece necklace from a hand-carved Buddha I brought back from Laos. I would not have trusted just anyone with my treasured Buddha, but I knew Nicole would deliver something fabulous and her creativity and craftsmanship went beyond my expectations. Whether you are looking for your own power piece of jewelry or one of her beautiful pieces finds you – NVision by Nicole Foos designs must be in your collection.
